What is a Colonoscopy Test?

A colonoscopy test is an examination of the rectum and entire colon using a lighted instrument called a colonoscope. A colonoscope is used for the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer, precancerous colon conditions (polyps), colitis, vascular abnormalities, and diverticular disease. The 165 cm colonoscope or the 60 cm flexible sigmoidoscope is used to biopsy and remove suspicious lesions, and for the effective detection, prevention and treatment of cancer.
